NSOI first engaged the Kyrgyz Republic in May 2006 and signed a joint action plan with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in September 2007. 

The joint action plan includes 20 priority steps to improve Kyrgyz capabilities; 8 of these steps involve ongoing efforts that need to be completed, and the remaining 12 involve new efforts that should be undertaken. 

The joint list of priority assistance projects includes 2 projects on radioactive sources, 2 on border detection, and 1 each on forensics and anti-corruption training.  The current fact sheets for the Kyrgyz Republic can be found here.  The fact sheets contain all relevant information about the purpose of the projects, the recipient ministries and agencies, the specific needs to be addressed, the activities to be undertaken, and the final objectives of the projects.
