UKRAINE
NSOI first engaged Ukraine in July 2005 and signed a joint action plan with the Government of Ukraine in January 2006.
The joint action plan includes 30 priority steps to improve Ukrainian capabilities; half of these steps involve ongoing efforts that need to be completed, and the other half involve new efforts that should be undertaken.
The joint list of priority assistance projects includes 6 projects on radioactive sources, 5 on border detection, 1 on prosecution, 1 on nuclear forensics, 2 on anti-corruption training, and 2 on nuclear security.
The current fact sheets on the assistance projects for Ukraine can be found here. The fact sheets contain all relevant information about the purpose of the projects, the recipient ministries and agencies, the specific needs to be addressed, the activities to be undertaken, and the final objectives of the projects.
